The
gOil Engines (Sekiyu Hatsudoki)h refer to
the first four-stroke engines frequently
used as a source of power for agriculture
and forestry in Japan from the Taisho era
(1912-1926) to the early Showa era (1926-
)
The manner in which an oil engine is hand-started
by an operator rotating the engine flywheel
while turning the machine to get best driving
conditions until the crank and piston respond
in coordination making the sound of reviving
engine gswoosh-boom, swoosh-boom c.ch surely
attracts viewers with its somewhat analogue
sort of way.
In addition, the oil engine is attractive
to us in that it has mechanisms almost equal
to the modern automobile engine but is much
simpler in structure enabling us to change
parts or repair component easier, therefore,
when it comes to the making of a miniature
model engine, even a beginner can enjoy
it commencing with a complete do-it-yourself
kit prepared according to the level of difficulty;
and besides, itfs a real thrill of life
when you first succeed in starting up the
engine of your own making.
Please enjoy your craved
gMonozukurih experience to your heartfs
content by means of the retro engines produced
by the Kobayashi Model Engine workshop.
